Through our spelling program students are better able to master words at their own pace. Each week 4th graders are responsible for a list of words based on a specific spelling pattern using Tyner. Five words come from their individually created list of high-utility words they need to master. This allows students to work on the materials they need to work on and be challenged at their own pace. Students are expected to have mastered the words on the 4th grade high utility list, but many go well beyond these expectations. Students are also assessed on their written work.
